Boehringer Ingelheim to invest 6.3 million euros in its Sant Cugat del Vallès Plant

Boehringer Ingelheim is to invest 6.3 million euros in its pharmaceutical production plant in Sant Cugat del Vallés to set up a new production line for injectables. The new production line, forecast to be up and running in 2011, will work with state-of-the-art technology and processes will be completely automated. The investment will increase the manufacturing capacity of the plant to 245 million ampoules a year.

The international center for pharmaceutical production in Sant Cugat del Vallès manufactures pharmaceutical specialties for more than 100 countries worldwide and is the largest producer of injectables in the company. According to the managing director of the plant, Dr. Joerg Burmeister, “this investment is a clear demonstration of the confidence they have in our pharmaceutical production center in Spain”. Syrups for the European market and hard gelatin capsules (Nolotil) are also produced in Sant Cugat, as well as the injectables.
