German plastic container manufacturer, Gerresheimer, opens new plant in Valencia

Plastic container manufacturer, Gerresheimer, opened the new production plant of the group in Masalavés (Valencia) in September. The company has devoted its 2009 investment to the center, worth 3.7 million euros. The new factory will manufacture bottles, doses and closed systems for products such as eye drops, nasal sprays and pills. A company communiqué described it as the “largest plant in the sector in the whole of Southern Europe ".

The German group has a presence in Spain through two firms: Gerresheimer Zaragoza, which manages the 20,000m2 Épila factory (Saragossa), the largest plant up until now, and Gerresheimer Valencia, responsible for the new factory.

Gerresheimer, which employs 161 workers in Spain, also announced the opening of an R&D center in Peachtree City (Georgia in the United States), where it already has a plant producing containers, thereby consolidating its interest in plastic packaging as a solution for the pharmaceutical and health markets, its referential sectors.
