Excellent connections

Andalusia has road and rail communications systems that provide access to any part of the Andalusian territory and also favour connections outside the region. The region has an ample network of highways and motorways, high-speed trains, 6 airports of which 5 have international connections, and 9 ports for the receipt and sending of cargo, of which Algeciras is worthy of particular mention as it is the principal port in the Mediterranean in terms of total container traffic.

 

Qualified Human Resources and Reduced Labor Costs

Andalusia is one of the Spanish regions with the highest index of qualified young people. In Andalusia there are 10 public universities, business schools, more than 300 non-university technical training centres, and almost 2,000 research groups that depend on the Andalusian universities and both public and private organisms. In fact, Andalusia has a modern network of centres in which 129 graduate courses are taught, of which 49 are of a technical nature, which represents 38% and which enables the region to satisfy all the business community’s need for specialist workers.

Andalusia also stands out as being one of the Autonomous Regions that has the lowest labour costs for businesses, below the average in both Spain and the Euro Zone.

Furthermore, mention should be made of the high level of commitment and the low level of staff turnover in the region.

Technological infrastructures

Andalusia has a modern network of technological parks and technological centres that group specialist businesses together in clusters that boost improvements in technological development in the region.

This network is made up of:
- 10 Technological Parks
- 16 Technological Centres
- 15 Innovation and Technology Centres and Foundations
- 3 European Business and Innovation Centres.

It is worth mentioning RETA, a non-profit business association made up of technological spaces in Andalusia to boost networking and the sharing of strategies, know-how and resources between companies.

Likewise, the region has a varied offer of industrial and office properties at competitive prices, with modern infrastructures with which to set industrial projects up.

Incentive system

Andalusia is considered to be a Nº 1 Convergence Region within the European Union, which means that it can access the highest levels of incentives or aid. The region has an incentives scheme that favours the setting up of creation and modernisation projects and also promotes business cooperation and R&D&I. Furthermore, there is assistance available to promote the stable contracting of local labour and continuous training of the workforce.
