It started operations in 1997 and was promoted by Portugal's leader in the glass bottling industry: Barbosa & Almeida.

BA Vidrios acquired another glass maker, Vidrieras Leonesas, S.A., to become one of the main producers in the country. In 2003 it reported sales of ¬124 million and created 150 direct jobs.

RESILUX IBERICA DE PACKAGING, S.A.

Its core business is the manufacture and sale of preforms and bottles made from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate).

This company was founded in 1997 with SOFIEX taking a stake in its starting capital. It is one of the productive units of its Belgium parent company, which also has operations in other European countries like Russia, Switzerland or Greece.

In 2003 it posted sales of nearly ¬17 million with an average workforce of 34 employees working directly for the company.

GAT EXTREMADURA, S. A.

SOFIEX also has a stake in this company, whose core activity is the production, promotion and sale of liquid fertilizers, mainly destined for Extremadura, the south of Spain and Portugal.

The company was founded in 1999 and is part of the Israeli group Federman et Sons, which also operates a manufacturing plant in the province of Huelva.

After investments of ¬1.7 million, the company reached sales of ¬4.2 million in 2005 and employs an average of 13 workers.

IBERHIPAC, S. A.

Iberhipac, SAs core activity is the manufacture of stretchable plastic film for industrial and food packaging.

This company, whose core shareholder is Italian group Hipac, was founded in 1999 with a ¬15.7 million investment and 55 direct employees.

2005 sales totaled ¬29.3 million and the company, in which Sofitex also holds a stake, is seeing its capacity and turnover increase constantly since it started operations.
