The US F1 Team, one of three teams joining the world’s Formula 1 season next year, is going to make Aragón’s MotorLand the base for its operations. This motor city located in Alcañiz (Teruel) has a high-speed circuit, a karting circuit and several off-road circuits.
"MotorLand Aragón is the ideal complex for the European operations of the team. Its excellent location and climate, wealth of race experience and the range of tracks make the installations of MotorLand perfectly suited to next season, for training for 2011 and for the future” explains Peter Windsor, the sporting director of the team, in a press release.
The US team, with its headquarters in Charlotte, will employ the complex in Teruel to carry out testing, to develop its single-seaters and as a logistics center. MotorLand Aragón has a surface area of more than 3.5 square kilometers and includes a leisure and cultural area, and another technology area.
Its high-speed circuit was opened last September. It was designed by Herman Tilke in collaboration with Pedro Martínez De la Rosa. Tilke is the man behind six Formula 1 circuits, including the urban circuit in Valencia. Its technical features include a length of 5,235 meters, and a longest straight of 1,726 meters, which makes it “an international benchmark for holding aerodynamic trials” according to the webpage of Motorland Aragón.
