BioMérieux expands its Tres Cantos plant

The new plant of French company Biomereux in Tres Cantos (Madrid), the only one located in Spain and the third largest in production terms in Europe, will enable the manufacture of 50 million units per year for hospital diagnoses and the creation of more than 45 jobs.

The company is a world leader in the field of micro-biological diagnosis and has been present in more than 150 countries for more than 40 years. Biomereux provides diagnosis solutions and employs its products to detect infectious diseases, certain types of cancer and the detection of microorganisms in food and agriculture products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

The President of the Madrid Region visited the company on the 15th of January and highlighted “the role of the production center in making the Madrid Region the main hub of biotechnology companies and the second most important for pharmaceutical sector companies nationally ".

The President, Esperanza Aguirre, went on to celebrate the fact that the Madrid region had been chosen by a wide range of multinationals of a similar nature to BioMérieux for the development of their international projects. Specifically, during the 1999-2008 period, the region received 61 percent of the foreign investment made in Spain.
