INVEST IN SPAIN and Cuatrecasas present the new Foreign Residents Guide for investors

Madrid, 6th of June 2010. INVEST IN SPAIN has joined forces with the legal firm Cuatrecasas, Gonçalvez Pereira, to draw up a practical Foreign Residents Guide for Investors, the objective of which is to provide information of a global nature to any foreign citizen wishing to set up a company, work, live, study or do business in Spain, amongst other things. INVEST IN SPAIN has set up this new information tool to facilitate foreign investment in the country.

The guide has a global viewpoint and aims to respond to any potential situation facing foreigners who want to come to or are already in the country. Moreover, it includes information and documentation from the full range of public institutions working in the immigration area. The Foreign Residents Guide for Investors is practical, continuously updated and easily accessed on the INVEST IN SPAIN webpage (www.investinspain.org).
The new tool was presented in the Ministry of Industry by the Chief Executive of INVEST IN SPAIN, Javier Sanz. Also in attendance at the presentation ceremony were Francisco Pérez Crespo, Managing Partner of the Madrid Office of Cuatrecasas and Juan José Álvarez, Consultant-Lawyer at Cuatrecasas, and professor of Private International Law at the University of the Basque Country.
Structure and Contents

The Guide centers on meeting the information needs of foreigners living in Spain, as regards any possible situation they could come across in the country. It is aimed at clients of INVEST IN SPAIN and provides information on requirements, processes and legal time limits to be complied with by all foreign nationals in accordance with the reason for their visit: setting up a company, working, doing business, tourism, living in Spain without working, studying, research or giving classes at the University.

It also envisages other situations such as those faced by foreign civil servants and military personnel working in Spain, the staff of foreign cultural institutions, correspondents from the news media, members of foreign unions, religious workers and artists. In addition it tackles the legal implications of the changing circumstances of people in the country, as well as the formalities required of other family members.

And it also explains concepts such as the foreign identification number and card, and the unity of large companies, as well as processes and time limits for the renewal of residency permits. Lastly, the Guide includes a chapter on current regulations in the immigration area.
