The process of adapting certain traditional industrial sectors to new forms of production, against a backdrop of processes to rationalize and modernize the business segment, has caused severe losses in the productive fabric and a significant elimination of jobs, aggravated in recent years by the effects of the financial crisis and the decline in consumption.
In an effort to mitigate the noxious effects on the industrial fabric as a whole and, in particular, on the areas most affected by adaptation and relocation processes, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has been launching support initiatives with a view to strengthening, regenerating and, in short, promoting the creation of the industrial fabric in Spain.
The program of aid executed in 2014 (by means of Order IET/619/2014, of April 11, 2013) has been structured along two lines of action:
• Reindustrialization Program, which aims to provide an incentive for new industrial establishments, as well as any increases in production capacity or relocations which industrial enterprises decide to undertake in order to increase competitiveness.
• Program to Increase Industrial Competitiveness, which aims to provide support for the implementation of all types of improvement or modification of existing production lines.
