To mark the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Gibraltar-San Roque refinery in the province of Cadiz, and during the visit to the facilities by Susana Díaz, president of the regional government of Andalusia, accompanied by the vice-president Manuel Jiménez Barrios, and other authorities, Cepsa announced an extraordinary investment of over 200 million euros in addition to the 200 million on average dedicated to this plant each year.
In 2015 Cepsa manufactured products for a value of over 14 billion euros in Andalusia, making it the most important company in the autonomous region for the value of its production, as highlighted by the CEO, Pedro Miró. Additionally, it generates 2,907 direct jobs and is also the number one company in the region in terms of its level of investment.
The additional 201 million announced by Miró during the visit to the refinery form part of Cepsa's strategic plan. Construction of the plant began in 1966, and today the it has the greatest capacity in Spain, and is one of the most efficient centers in the sector. This is due to the constant investment in safety, technology, processes and energy optimization.
According to Miró, this refinery is not only integrated in the chemical area of Cepsa, but interacts with other industries in the area, and has become a powerful engine for wealth creation and stable and quality employment.
The president of the regional government highlighted the mutual commitment with Cepsa and explained that it would support the company “in strengthening and reinforcing the industrial fabric in Andalusia, in a partnership based on progress toward economic development”.
