Klépierre, the largest proprietor of shopping centers in Europe, has decided to acquire the most important shopping center in the Murcia region, Nueva Condomina, which it has managed since 2012. The price of the total share transaction was set at 233 million euros.
The Nueva Condomina was opened in 2006 and refurbished in 2014. In 2016, it attracted almost 11 million visitors and generated 257 million euros in retail sales. According to Klépierre, this is the main commercial destination in the whole of the Murcia region, located in an area with good transport connections and home to 800,000 people, and with 1 million tourists a year.
The French company's new shopping center has an approximate area of 110,000 square meters, distributed in a shopping center of 73,000 square meters and a retail park of 37,000. It has a total of 178 stores and 5,700 parking places.
Nueva Condomina will be the third largest asset in Klépierre's Spanish portfolio in terms of rental income, after La Gavia and Plenilunio, which it bought in March 2015. They are followed by Príncipe Pío (in Madrid, like the first two), Meridiano (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) and Maremagnum (Barcelona).
