Crown Holdings, the multinational of packaging products headquartered in Philadelphia, will build a new production plant of cans for beverages in Valencia. This will complement the production of its factories in Agoncillo (La Rioja) and Seville, where it currently manufactures steel cans.
The new factory will introduce the production of aluminum cans, with which it foresees replacing steel cans. In addition to directly satisfying our market's growing demand and preference for aluminum cans, it will also provide support to the other two factories during their transition to this material.
The new facility will be located at Parc Sagunt, about 16 kilometers north of the city of Valencia, a strategic location for its proximity to major clients, in addition to its excellent infrastructure and connection with transport networks.
The factory is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2018, and will be designed in foresight of future expansions. Its operations will launch with an annual capacity of approximately 900 million units of several sizes.
The Senior Vice President of Crown Bevcan Europe and the Middle East, Ziya Ozay, states: “We are enthusiastic with the growth of the market of aluminum-packed beverages in the Iberian region and our new factory will be ideally located to satisfy the growing needs of a series of key clients and to provide support to our other facilities during the conversion from steel to aluminum”.
