Christeyns, the Belgian company of the hygiene product industry, has acquired Betelgeux, a company from Valencia headquartered in Ador, that manufactures and distributes hygiene products for the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Through this operation, Christeyns broadens its activities in Spain and Portugal and prepares its expansion in Latin America, where it already has infrastructure in Brazil.
Betelgeux manufactures each year at its factory in Ador over five million kilograms of industrial cleaning and disinfection products. Founded in this city in 1986, it has subsidiaries in Portugal and Chile, and a consolidated turnover exceeding €8.5 million.
Christeyns, which assumes a relevant position in the market of industrial cleaning and disinfection products for the European food industry, has started the expansion of its factory in Valencia, with the goal of doubling its production capacity. Once the construction works are completed, these new buildings will be where the strategic management of Christeyns Food Hygiene for the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America will be centralized.
Christeyns and Betelgeux have already collaborated together in recent years in the food hygiene market, and have built a mutual trust that has resulted in this acquisition, after which the Belgian company entrusts the Spanish one with an important part of its business.
Alain Bostoen, owner of Christeyns, explains: “With its high-quality products, innovative concepts and well-prepared human resources, Betelgeux is a valuable addition to our own Food Hygiene Department at Christeyns. I am pleased to welcome the complete Betelgeux team of 50 people to the Christeyns family. Their professional know-how, knowledge of the market, reputation and product portfolio will help us expand our own activities and continue to shape the Christeyns strategy”.
