Just over a year after starting construction, Ball Corporation, the manufacturer of metal beverage containers, has opened the new plant in Cabanillas del Campo, province of Guadalajara, where it expects to manufacture 1.6 billion aluminum cans per year, as the institution Invest In Castilla-La Mancha explained in a press release.
The US company has invested more than €100 euros in the facility, making the factory one of the most advanced from the technological point of view. It is the company's most modern and sustainable plant, with a reduced water consumption, 15% lower energy use 15% than a conventional plant, low emissions, and a target of achieving a level of zero landfill waste.
Productive capacity and efficiency
Over 120 employees will work on the two aluminum can production lines, one for 330 ml containers, which will be the company's lightest in Europe, and the other for 500 m. The target is to make 1.6 billion units per year. Productive capacity and cost efficiency have been two of the objectives in building this 17,000 square meter plant,
the second that Ball Corporation now has in Spain. The other is located in La Selva del Camp, Tarragona. Spain is a key market for the company, because 7.5 billion cans are produced here every year, making it the second biggest market for drink cans in Europe.
