Hitachi plans to open four engineering centres in Spain

They will be the first launched by its GlobalLogic subsidiary in south-eastern Europe and will create between 2,500 and 3,000 jobs

GlobalLogic, part of the Hitachi group, has announced a plan to open several digital engineering centres in Spain as part of its expansion in south-eastern Europe. The US company combines design experience, complex software engineering and data engineering to cover its customers’ needs for transformation services.

GlobalLogic was legally established in Spain in 2022. According to the company’s president and CEO Nitesh Banga at a recent meeting with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, the new centres in Spain will be Global Logic’s first in south-eastern Europe, and will provide digital engineering services to customers in Spain and worldwide.

Highly qualified profiles
Valencia and Malaga are among the top candidates for the first offices in Spain to open this year. In the long term, these will be joined by other sites in Madrid and Tarragona. The new facilities will create between 2,500 and 3,000 jobs in the next three years, through local hiring and potential acquisitions. The company will be recruiting software architects and engineers, designers, data scientists and other highly-qualified professionals.

GlobalLogic has grown worldwide in recent years by opening new centres and purchasing companies in the industry. Spain has become an important area for the company thanks to the government's commitment to the digital transformation of the economy with its Digital Spain 2026 agenda.

Public-private partnership
The Silicon Valley-based technology company has been attracted by Spain's talented, highly-qualified pool of software engineers. The Prime Minister underlined how public-private partnership is a crucial aspect of inclusive, humanistic digitalisation, saying that, “Significant investment projects like this are pivotal to speeding up the digital transformation”.

Nitesh Banga says he is delighted to be expanding the company's operations in Spain, and remarked, “Putting down roots in a country with a public commitment to the digital transformation and harnessing Spain’s exceptional talent to achieve our common objectives is incredibly exciting. We are also grateful for the warm welcome we have received and the incredible support from Pedro Sánchez’s government throughout the process. I see big things ahead for our investments here".
