Microsoft opens digital sales hub in Barcelona to serve Europe

The company has already recruited 40 of the 250 people who will be working at the centre in the near future.
Microsoft has launched a digital sales hub in Barcelona to provide services to European companies. This is the US company's third Digital Sales Centre in the EMEA region, which covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It will in this way complete the region of coverage in this geographical area, in coordination with the centres in Dublin (Ireland) and Cairo (Egypt).
In addition to Spain, the 12 countries to be served by the hub are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.
Employment generation
The new hub has started operations with an initial staff of 44 people, which will grow over the coming months to approximately 250 employees. In this first phase, the workers already providing services represent nine different nationalities, and 59% are women. Consistent with its area of coverage, the hub will in fact offer its services in 10 languages: Spanish, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and Finnish.
The profiles of the professionals the company is recruiting are varied, ranging from technical specialists to cloud architects and solution specialists. Open positions can currently be found on Microsoft's dedicated employment website.
Developing digital talent
Microsoft Ibérica's Business Director, David Hernández, says, “The choice of Barcelona as the site for this new centre represents Microsoft's commitment to supporting the development of the digital talent available in the area, as well as reinforcing the city's attractiveness as a magnet for technology professionals from all over Europe”.
The company describes Barcelona as “one of the most vibrant cities when it comes to generating and attracting digital talent”, and refers to the latest Digital Talent Overview report, produced by Mobile World Capital, according to which the city has over 122,000 digital professionals. In 2023 alone, 13,500 new Information and Communications Technology specialists were hired by companies located in the Catalan capital. This is an increase of over 12% compared to the previous year and in addition to the fact that one in three digital professionals in the city come from elsewhere.
