SeedCamp and Yellow lead Opereit pre-seed round
The British and Franco-Spanish funds are the lead investors in this round, which has raised €2.15 million.
British fund SeedCamp and Franco-Spanish fund Yellow, set up by the founders of Glovo, have led the $2.5 million (€2.15 million) investment round in the Catalan startup Opereit, which uses artificial intelligence to optimise logistics processes and manage transport-related claims. This funding will accelerate its expansion in Europe.
The capital raised in this pre-seed round will also help accelerate the development of solutions to the problems identified in the logistics sector, which, according to Opereit, generates more than one trillion euros in losses every year worldwide. And this is not caused by fraud or theft, but by errors the company says are entirely avoidable, such as carrier overcharges, lost or damaged shipments and claims processes that are so manual and complex that most customers give up halfway through.
Generative AI applications
Opereit is the first company to set out to address this problem by using generative AI. The company can detect invoice errors, identify lost and damaged shipments and process carrier claims through to their resolution by using its AI agents, completely autonomously and without human intervention.
Pablo Cousin, founder of the startup, identified this problem while part of Rever’s founding team, where he saw the same patterns repeating themselves, “Every month, we saw the same black hole. Carrier overcharges, impossible-to-track claims and money lost in processes that lacked visibility. The problem isn’t operational; it’s structural.”
Financial impact
After confirming that it was not a problem unique to his company, he decided to create Opereit. In its very first audit of the company Nude Project, it identified over US$200,000 in recoverable claims. Raquel Jiménez, Director of Operations and Customer Experience at this clothing brand, explains, “We didn't have any real visibility of the financial impact of transport incidents. With Opereit, we have been able to identify and manage claims much faster, recovering costs and tracking them far more efficiently.”
For Seedcamp director Félix Martínez, logistics is “one of the last major frontiers for AI-driven automation; carrier billing is where the greatest losses occur and where solutions have been weakest”. In response, he says, “Opereit is building the foundational platform for global trade settlement. We are very excited to be co-leading this funding round.”
