BD in Spain
BD opened its first premises in Spain in Madrid in 1977. In 1979 it moved to San Agustín del Guadalix, Madrid, where it set up its headquarters and based its sales force and one of its two production plants in Spain. In 1986 BD bought Fabersanitas Industrial, a syringe factory in Fraga. At present, these two plants are leaders in BD's manufacturing worldwide.
Over this period, the company has made significant investments in Spain, the location of its only European Technological Innovation Centre. It has over 1000 employees, with manufacturing facilities in San Agustín de Guadalix (Madrid) and Fraga (Huesca). It produces around 8 billion syringes and needles per year.
