Colisée retirement home group acquires Catalan group Blauclínic

With four centres and 614 residents in Barcelona, it specialises in rehabilitation care

The French group Colisée, specialised in elderly care and nursing homes, has acquired Centres Blauclínic CBC, specialised in rehabilitation care. The Catalan company has four centres in Barcelona: CBC Putget Dolors Aleu, CBC Isabel Roig, CBC Hospital Sant Jordi de la Vall d'Hebron and CBC Clínica Barceloneta. "We are pleased to announce that our family is growing with four centres in Spain," the French company posted on its website.

As Colisée's note explains, the Blauclínic centres have "top-quality facilities and an exceptional team", and provide the company with a total of 614 residents,  focussing on tailored care and comprehensive rehabilitation of its patients.

Care experience
With over 38 years' experience, Centres Blauclínic CBC has both private residential homes and others in agreements with the Public Authorities, Catsalut and Sispap. Its aim is to offer care services in the social and health care sector, dependency and chronicity care, elderly care and palliative care.

In addition to residential services, Blauclínic centres combine their long-stay care facilities with a day hospital, providing both care for  chronic illnesses and temporary convalescence, as well as palliative care and sub-acute treatment.

New residence model
Patrick Teycheney created Colisée in France in 1989 with the vision of creating a new model for retirement homes. By 2000, it had opened some thirty centres and in 2014 it started a new line of business with the launch of its first two rehabilitation clinics. In the same year, it expanded into China. Two years later, it arrived in Italy and, in 2017, it started a third line: adapted flats with services for the elderly.

Colisée arrived in Spain in 2018 with the acquisition of STS Grup, which specialises in healthcare transport and the management of social care centres and assisted living facilities for the elderly. It boosted its presence in Spain in 2019, at the same time as it started operations in Belgium. EQT (Sweden) and CDPQ (Canada) have been its main investors since 2020.
