US monitoring and security platform for cloud applications Datadog has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hdiv Security, a Spanish security testing software provider. This transaction will allow it to expand its cloud security platform with additional capabilities and a more comprehensive approach to application security.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of the third quarter of 2022, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Cloud migration
Datadog is used by organisations of all sizes and across a wide range of industries to enable the process of digital transformation and cloud migration, drive collaboration among development, operations, security and business teams, accelerate time to market for applications, reduce time to resolution, secure applications and infrastructure, understand user behaviour and track key business metrics.

The product, developed by Hdiv Security, monitors the behaviour of applications in order to provide highly accurate detection of known and unknown vulnerabilities (zero-day attacks) at runtime. This allows developers to assess, track and monitor the risks to running applications. Developers can flag weaknesses where and when they matter most, so as to quickly detect and resolve critical vulnerabilities.

Security visibility
Vice President of Product Management and Cloud Security Platform at Datadog, Pierre Betouin, explained that, “Combining security and observability provides Datadog customers with unique insights into sensitive services that are vulnerable or under attack.” With respect to this, he added that incorporating Hdiv Security’s capabilities “will deepen security visibility across the entire software life cycle to help our customers develop more secure and resilient applications.”
