Aer Soléir arrives in Spain with 130-megawatt hybrid project

The company has partnered with Tartessos Power Development to develop a power plant in Andalusia

Dublin-based Irish firm Aer Soléir has reached an agreement to jointly develop a hybrid renewable energy project in Spain with the Spanish company Tartessos Power Development. The plant will actually be located in Andalusia and will have an installed capacity of over 130 megawatts from both solar PV and wind energy.

Aer Soléir specialises in developing, constructing and operating multi-technology renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on large-scale energy storage, solar energy and onshore wind projects throughout Europe. With its arrival in Spain, the company is about to embark on its first hybrid project, which has the advantage of being able to continue generating energy at night.

Strong development portfolio
With an extensive track record in the market and a strong presence in Spain, where it has a solid portfolio of greenfield renewable energy projects under development, Tartessos Power Development specialises in the development of renewable energy projects.

The agreement will involve the two companies working closely together. It will allow Tartessos to improve its position as a developer of renewables projects, while Aer Soléir will be able to expand into a new market in which it does not yet have a presence.

Experienced and committed developer
The Irish company's CEO, Andy Kinsella, said, “The agreement signed with Tartessos Power Development represents a significant milestone for Aer Soléir, as it’s our first investment in the Spanish market, as well as the introduction to our first hybrid project with the support of an experienced and committed developer in the Spanish renewables market. Tartessos brings solid experience and local knowledge to this partnership, which will permit Aer Soléir to expand into the Spanish market. This investment shows our commitment to growing our portfolio in new markets.”

Tartessos Power Development’s CEO, Rainer Kistner, responded, “The partnership between Aer Soléir and Tartessos Power Development is a perfect match: a well-established renewable energy developer with a 25-year track record in Spain joins forces with an international investor backed by a leading global provider of private equity for the energy transition and decarbonisation sector. The planned facility in southern Spain is the ideal place for an innovative hybrid project aiming to produce renewable energy both during the day and at night, and at the lowest possible cost.”
