GFT boosts digital transformation centre in Zaragoza

The company is launching a new office concept, and plans to hire 40 additional professionals
Consultancy firm GFT has reopened its Zaragoza office after a refurbishment that has transformed the facilities into a versatile space adapted to meet current needs. The new headquarters in Aragon has been designed to support a collaborative working model with a combination of face-to-face and remote working, one that the organisation considers to be more efficient.
The German multinational arrived in Zaragoza in 2001, starting out with a 40-strong team. Today, the local workforce has grown to 252 employees, and the company has now announced its intention to recruit up to 40 additional professionals by the end of 2024. In statements to the newspaper Cinco Días, its CEO in Spain, Manuel Lavín, said that the number of new hires across the country next year will reach 500.
Working model
The shift from a traditional model to a space designed with meetings and socialising in mind has made it possible for GFT to maintain its office in the centre of Zaragoza, despite the growth of its workforce. The new facilities include 81 individual workstations and twelve meeting rooms of varying sizes, as well as specific spaces for collaborative work and video calls.
As Lavín explained, “From these new offices, we will continue to design and create together with our customers, supporting them in digitalising their manufacturing and marketing processes and in all associated services – because, as we understand it at GFT, technology and transformation means new business opportunities, new markets, increased competitiveness, and above all, making everyone's work and day-to-day life easier, safer and more comfortable”.
Digital transformation
Zaragoza plays a key role, both for the Spanish subsidiary and in the group as a whole. This office houses the digital transformation centre for cybersecurity in Spain, and also coordinates GFT Spain's health and safety at work and employee relations units, as well as implementing the equality plan.
One of its main customers is US multinational Amazon Web Services (AWS), which set up a cloud infrastructure region in Aragon in 2022. As Head of Partner Sales at AWS Iberia, María Eugenia Carbonell, explained, “AWS is investing more than 2.5 billion euros in the AWS Europe region (Spain) and supporting more than 1,300 jobs over ten years. The commitment to Aragon by AWS' partners illustrates how the infrastructure is attracting investment and turning the area into a technology hub within Spain”.
