Huawei selects ten Spanish companies for cloud acceleration project

In addition to a support programme, each company will receive €120,000 in cloud services

Huawei has launched its first cloud acceleration project in Spain, being focused on supporting ten companies with a training programme, funding and meetings with investors. On 6 June, the Chinese technology company presented the ten startups selected for the Huawei Cloud Startup Programme at an event in Barcelona, together with the Polish accelerator FundingBox.

The chosen companies had to present a viable project and a defined strategy for their business model. They also had to be users of cloud services, the raison d'être of Huawei's programme. In fact, one of the benefits they will receive in the acceleration project will be €120,000 in cloud services.

Top ten startups
Several Galician companies are among the chosen companies: PhotoILike, in the tourism industry, Coinscrap Finance, in fintech, and Cinfo, in sports, media and entertainment. There are also three Catalan startups: Mouter, in the mobility industry, The ChannelStore by TVUP Streaming Media, in media and entertainment, and Process Talks, in digital B2B services. The Aragonese company MoonBack is also active in the digital services sector.

The Andalusian company Fitness Technologies, in the sports industry, the Valencian company Uktena, in the industrial sector, and the e-commerce company Venped, from Madrid, also form part of the group of companies that have benefited from the acceleration programme. Their leaders had an initial meeting with their business and technology mentors at the presentation event.

The programme, in a hybrid format, will be primarily face-to-face and will conclude with another event on 11 July when the companies will make their final presentation to investors, public authorities and senior Huawei executives. Over the four weeks, they will also have online access to a variety of content, meetings with investors and keynote speeches by leading entrepreneurs.

A great opportunity
Huawei Spain CEO Joe Zou Liqiang referred to the initiative, organised jointly with FundingBox, as "a great opportunity to help companies improve and achieve their goals by means of an innovative acceleration programme". He added, “I would like to congratulate the ten selected startups, and I hope that our mentoring programme will help them in the development of their business projects and innovative ideas."

FundingBox CEO Xabi Chao, for his part, boasts of its "unique" methodology and said that, "Being one of the largest tech ecosystems in Europe, we can guarantee the promotion and reliable evaluation of potential startups that will become flagships in the tech industry."
