Oracle opens Innovation Hub in Malaga

The multinational already has 600 employees at the Andalusia Technology Park
Oracle has begun the new year with the launch of its Innovation Hub in Malaga. The innovation centre is located at the multinational's facilities in the Andalusia Technology Park, where it already has more than 600 employees from 23 different countries, and its aim will be to shape the management technologies of the future.
Oracle's team in the Andalusian city is focused on supporting companies and public bodies around the world, helping them to achieve better results through the use of information technologies. The company considers that its work has turned Malaga into a global IT powerhouse.
Collaborative innovation
The new Malaga hub will operate as a space for collaborative IT innovation, with the aim of linking the knowledge and experience of its own professionals with that of its partners and customers. Its focus will be industry-specific, taking a proactive and creative approach to the challenges facing organisations, and acting as a catalyst for new ideas that will improve efficiency.
The innovation centre's primary objective will be to add value in all the initiatives in which it is involved. It is not just a question of finding solutions to customers’ existing problems, but rather to help them to shape a better future by using ICTs. Progress achieved will as a result be shared, and processes for the generation and implementation of disruptive ideas will be optimised.
Key areas
The experience economy will be one of the Innovation Hub's basic tools, working on areas that are key for today's companies, such as sustainability, smart manufacturing, interactive virtual experiences, digital assistant technology for banking, retail and manufacturing, artificial intelligence applied to manufacturing, and its data lab, focused on big data, deep learning and automation.
As well as having a global focus, the US company's hub will promote its integration into the Andalusian business ecosystem. As Albert Triola, general manager of Oracle Spain explained, “Over the last decade, Malaga has become one of the most dynamic and buoyant areas for IT development, and as a world leader in new technologies for business, at Oracle we couldn't have chosen a better location for our international innovation hub”.
In the spotlight
At the inauguration of the hub, Carolina España, the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and European funds at the Regional Government of Andalusia and president of the Malaga TechPark, said that, “Thanks to the arrival of numerous technology companies, Malaga is attracting the attention of new companies who are finding a future here that inspires new generations to train in specific sectors such as technology, and to seek a sound, quality future with solid guarantees”.
The city's mayo, for his part, Francisco de la Torre, stressed “the importance of Oracle for Malaga, because it is a very strong element within the city's technology ecosystem”, and due to the new hub's aim of “finding answers to many of the challenges facing humanity, starting with those related to sustainability”.
