Siemens Mobility opens sustainable mobility centre in Valencia

It has created close to one hundred jobs in engineering and software development
As part of its growth and international expansion strategy, Siemens Mobility has opened a new technology centre for sustainable mobility in Valencia. The new centre’s objective will be to operate in the fields of engineering and software development, specifically aimed at creating new sustainable mobility and technologies, and with a focus on innovation and digitalisation.
According to the German company, it chose Valencia for this new technology centre due to the city’s connection to rail development in Spain, which dates back over 150 years. As well as being at the leading edge of this sector, Siemens Mobility describes Valencia as “a very attractive location, with an excellent cultural offering, renowned universities and a good quality of life, making it the ideal place to invest”.
Proximity to customers
The decision to open up shop in Valencia was also influenced by the multinational’s desire to be in close proximity to its customers, so as to quickly meet their new demands, lending its experience and knowledge to “make the railway the backbone of mobility”.
Siemens Mobility has been operating in the Spanish high-speed rail market since its beginnings three decades ago. It performed the electrification, signalling and telecommunications work for the first high-speed rail line in Spain, Madrid-Seville, and it was in charge of its maintenance for five years. Since then it has supplied locomotives, signalling and train control equipment, as well as the ERTMS systems for several of the lines that criss-cross the Iberian Peninsula.
Recruitment process
The recruitment process is currently under way for candidates for the close to 100 jobs available, and which combine remote and in-person work so as to preserve the teams’ work-life balance and well-being. In the job descriptions, the company highlights its commitment to “equal opportunities for men and women, as well as diversity as the source of creativity and innovation”.
In addition to high-speed and very high-speed trains, Siemens Mobility offers other solutions for the transport of goods and people, such as trams, light rail, metro, commuter and regional rail, as well as infrastructure, signalling and electrification solutions, turnkey systems and related services.
Through its commitment to digitalisation, the company hopes to help mobility operators around the world to ensure that their infrastructure is intelligent, increases its value sustainably throughout its life cycle, improves the passenger experience and ensures availability. The company aims to create greener and more efficient trains, as well as more reliable timetables and freight services.
