Atos opens office in Canary Islands to promote innovative projects

The new Global Delivery Center promotes Las Palmas as a key part of the company's global structure.

Technology company Atos, specialising in cloud computing, cybersecurity and supercomputing, has opened a new office in Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) which will act as a Global Delivery Center (GDC), and with the mission of promoting innovative digital transformation projects in over 20 countries. This opening coincides with the 25th anniversary of its first office being inaugurated on the island of Gran Canaria.

As a company that specialises in developing advanced digital transformation solutions, Atos provides services from its office in the Canary Islands to over 100 public and private organisations around the world. The new GDC not only consolidates the French company's commitment to Las Palmas, but also promotes this city as a key part of its global structure.

Job creation
In the first phase, over 200 professionals will be hired to work at the new facilities, which have been designed following high standards of wellbeing and technology. The company, which encourages local employment, expects the number of workers to double in a later phase to more than 400.

Atos' interest in making a contribution to developing local talent has been expressed for many years through its links with universities and vocational training centres in the Canary Islands. The location of the new GDC has been strategically chosen, taking into account its easy accessibility by both public and private transport, as well as its proximity to important places, such as Las Canteras beach and the Alfredo Krauss auditorium.

A benchmark for technological innovation
The CEO of Atos Spain, Carlos von Prabucki, says that with this inauguration “Atos continues, after 25 years, to consolidate its role as a benchmark for technological innovation in the Canary Islands, with a headquarters designed to connect locally and project globally, offering advanced solutions, digital services based on excellence and the best talent from an environment offering a unique quality of life”.

For Von Prabucki, the Canary Islands have “everything we need to become an important technological reference point on an international scale. We have always believed in the Canary Islands and, therefore, we have managed to promote this centre from which we hope to design and implement innovative projects that contribute to the change that is taking place across all social and business areas of the new digital world.”
