Emeren Group buys thirteen solar energy projects in Spain

The portfolio has a total capacity of 86 megawatts peak, all of which are ready for construction
Solar project developer, owner and operator Emeren Group has announced the purchase of a portfolio of solar energy installations from Negratin Global Services. The new portfolio, located in central Spain, consists of thirteen projects with a total capacity of 86 megawatts peak. Each of them provides between six and 14 megawatts peak.
All projects in the portfolio are in the ready-to-build phase. Work is scheduled to start at the end of 2024, with the aim of being connected to the grid in early 2025. According to the US company, based in Stamford, Connecticut, they will produce around 166,500 megawatt hours per year, equivalent to the energy consumed by 51,380 households.
Energy storage in batteries
In addition to solar projects, Emeren plans to develop and build battery energy storage systems. This could save the emission of almost 36,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The new acquisition will add to the over 300 megawatts of solar energy installations and the 100 megawatt hours of battery storage capacity that the company already has in Spain.
Emeren Group CEO Yumin Liu said, “We are excited to acquire Negratin Global Services' portfolio of projects, as they fit well with Emeren's strategic vision for advancing renewable energy in Spain and globally. The partnership with Negratin reinforces our dedication to expanding our renewable energy portfolio and showcases our successful track record in acquiring and selling utility-scale projects.”
A greener future
The seller, Negratin Global Services, is a Spanish industrial and services group operating in energy, industry and facilities within the renewable energy sector. With over 25 years’ experience, it has international offices in Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Colombia, Chile and Japan.
CEO Enrique Díaz Hinojosa explained, “This aligns with Negratin's commitment to renewable energy and contributes to sustainable practices. We rely on Emeren's expertise for successful project development, supporting our shared vision of a greener future.”
