Envision to build electrolyser production plant in Spain

It will invest $1 billion and establish a green hydrogen centre of excellence.
Renewable energy machinery and equipment manufacturer Envision Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry for Industry for the construction of an electrolyser production plant in Spain. The agreement, which the Chinese company describes as a "historic net-zero emissions technology partnership", and which involves Spanish financial and industrial partners, is estimated to start construction in 2026.
The Net-Zero Integrated Green Hydrogen Industrial Park project will also be accompanied by a green hydrogen centre of excellence that will seek to improve local capacities in this energy vector. The deal was finalised during the second day of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's recent trip to China, which included a visit to the company's Shanghai headquarters.
More than a thousand jobs
As the government explained in a press release, the agreement involves an investment commitment from the Chinese company of more than $1 billion. The memorandum, which was signed by Envision and the Ministry of Industry in the presence of Pedro Sánchez and a Spanish business delegation, anticipates the generation of more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs related to the project.
After holding a bilateral meeting with Envision CEO and Founder Lei Zhang, Sánchez said that such agreements provide a boost that will help transform Spanish industry, adding that, "You are not only contributing to our economy. You are helping us to build the future, to build a better future."
The government also believes that Envision's commitment to this project, together with the cutting-edge technology it has developed, will help strengthen Spain's position in the race to develop the green hydrogen value chain. The project will therefore not only boost Spain's leadership in this area, but will also represent a decisive step towards greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.
