ESP Solutions to build one of most modern cold storage warehouses in Europe

It will have 100 loading and unloading bays and the capacity to store up to 80,000 pallets

Logistics company ESP Solutions, owned, among others, by the British investment firm Blantyre Capital, has partnered with the Canadian firm Brookfield and the real estate developer Logistik Service to implement a logistics project in Murcia. The two companies have formed a joint venture to undertake the construction of what will be one of the most modern refrigeration projects in Europe.

Work will begin in January in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia, on a plot covering 85,000 square metres. The building will be constructed in two phases of 20,000 square metres each. The first phase will be a cold logistics platform with capacity for 35,000 pallets, forty loading and unloading bays and state-of-the-art refrigeration and freezing facilities.

Sustainability and the environment
With the second phase, of a similar size and slightly larger capacity, the turnkey project will meet the highest quality standards and will be equipped with important sustainability and environmental measures. Once the construction is completed, ESP Solutions will own one of the most modern cold storage projects in Southern Europe, with a storage capacity of up to 80,000 pallets and 100 loading and unloading bays.

ESP Solutions’ CEO Pedro Campillo explained, “This integrated logistics project will contribute to economic growth and job creation in Alhama de Murcia, consolidating ESP Solutions' commitment to offering cutting-edge logistics solutions. We are committed to the long-term and sustainable success of this initiative, and look forward to continuing to be a driver for economic development in the region”.

Integrated logistics solutions
The company's Logistics Director, Eduardo Pujante, added that “these facilities join those already available to the ESP Group in Murcia and Valencia, and will strengthen our position as a leader in integrated logistics solutions for our customers, together with our road and sea transport services”.

Logistik Service’s Development Director Javier Muniesa de Caveda said, “We are very pleased with the start of this innovative project in Alhama de Murcia. The creation of this cold platform marks a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to operational excellence and customer service”. He also said, “This state-of-the-art facility is the first step in the strategic partnership between Brookfield and Logistik Service and is an important milestone in our commitment to environmental sustainability”.

ESP Solutions, the project promoter specialising in temperature-controlled transport and logistics, also plans to become the first fully decarbonised long-distance fleet by 2030. The real estate consultancy Proequity advised on the transaction and was also involved in creating the joint venture between Brookfield and Logistik Service.
