Hyundai Mobis to create 350 direct jobs at new battery factory

The company will invest 214 million euros in this plant in Navarre, which has been declared to be of regional interest
In setting up a factory to assemble high-voltage (HV) battery cells, the investment to be made by Mobis Spain Electrified Powertrain, a subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai Mobis, has been declared to be of regional interest. According to the Regional Government, the plant will be located in the municipality of Noáin, involving an investment of 214 million euros and generating around 350 direct jobs.
Hyundai Mobis announced last August that it would build an electric vehicle battery assembly plant in Spain. The announcement, related to the large-scale supply contract signed with Volkswagen, was already making headway towards a location close to one of the German group's plants in Spain, with the spotlight being placed on Navarre across all spheres of the media.
Transition to electric vehicles
According to the information provided by the Government of Navarre, the complex will cover a surface area of 50,000 square metres, built on a plot of land located in the Ciudad del Transporte local transport hub, and with an area of over 100,000 square metres. The Spanish subsidiary of the Czech company VGP Park will be the promoter and developer for the logistics-industrial facility, which Mobis Spain Electrified Powertrain will occupy under a long-term commercial lease.
According to reports, this is an “unprecedented” investment of 214 million euros, as it is the second largest received in the 21st century by the Regional Community. The first was announced by the Volkswagen Group in 2023. These investments, together with another by the Spanish group Gestamp, place Navarre at the forefront of industry in the transition to electric vehicles.
Headquartered in Seoul and founded in 1977, Hyundai Mobis is the parts and service division of South Korean motor vehicle manufacturers Hyundai Motor Company, Genesis Motors and Kia Motors. The company has been producing its battery systems, which can be installed in all types of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, for over ten years. The plant in Navarre will be the company’s second factory in Europe, in addition to the one it has in the Czech Republic.
