ShibataFenderTeam builds production plant in Valencia
With an investment of 7 million euros, it will generate 30 jobs when it starts operating.
The ShibataFenderTeam (SFT) has begun construction of a new factory in Valencia. Located twenty-five minutes from the city's port, the new facility will double the company's production capacity. It will focus on the production of foam fenders, which facilitate the berthing of ships. It will also have a building for high-density polyethylene moulding and a third for a steelworks.
The German company has planned an investment of 7 million euros for the acquisition of the 10,000-square metre site, as well as the construction of the factory and its equipment. It will be its fourth production plant. The choice of Valencia was based on the strategic advantages offered by its port, local infrastructure and the possibility of having a highly qualified workforce.
Job creation
The factory is expected to create some 30 new jobs in the run-up to its commissioning. Domique Polte, a member of the group's board of directors, said, "The construction of a new manufacturing plant represents an important milestone that reflects both the company's economic growth and its confidence in the region's industrial potential. The location of the plant in Valencia, close to such an important port, brings more flexibility and better service to our customers."
Referring to the future of the company and the role of this plant, Polte added, "We are delighted with this development in the region, as it not only facilitates our growth but also enhances our ability to contribute significantly to the overall success of the group. ShibataFenderTeam differentiates itself from its competitors due to its strong focus on in-house manufacturing of all major components, ensuring the highest quality and reliability. This new factory further reinforces our commitment to these values."
First office in Valencia
In October 2017, SFT opened its fifth office in Valencia, the first in Spain, to serve the Spanish and North African markets, this being in addition to supporting Spanish contractors and engineering companies with projects in Latin America.
In addition to Valencia, SFT has manufacturing facilities in Japan (where the Shibata Industrial headquarters are located), Malaysia and Germany, where the group's headquarters are located.
