Turkish fintech Craftgate starts internationalisation process in Spain

The company’s aim is to continue expanding from Spain into Europe and Latin America.

The Turkish fintech company Craftgate, which specialises in payment orchestration, has landed in Spain and has started operations after creating its subsidiary Craftgate Europe in mid-November. This is the first step in its international expansion, from where it plans to continue growing in Europe and Latin America.

Jorge Sorial has been appointed Country Manager to lead Craftgate's expansion in Spain. The company, founded in Istanbul in 2020, processed more than 1 billion euros in transactions in 2023, and reached 1.189 billion euros in 2024 in the first half of the year alone. According to 2024 year-end projections, it could exceed three billion euros in the year that has just ended.

Online payment processes
Payment orchestration consists of managing all online payment processes for businesses, both domestic and international, from a single application. Craftgate's approach enables merchants and other businesses to easily connect all payment services, improve payment acceptance rates, save on fees, increase sales and centralise all payments on a single platform. All this is safeguarded with a secure process that guarantees data protection.

Following its arrival in Spain, the company, which is already integrated with platforms such as Shopify, Prestashop and WooCommerce, and with payment systems like PayPal, is integrating with Redsys in order to connect with most banks and add other payment systems such as Bizum to its system. Craftgate's customers connect to the platform with virtual POS terminals for banks, and other payment and e-money institutions.

Great potential for fintech services
Craftgate CEO and Co-Founder Hakan Erdogan describes Spain as “a market with great potential for fintech services”, and said, “We firmly believe that our arrival in the Spanish market reinforces our global strategy and consolidates our position as a leader in payment orchestration.”

Jorge Sorial also sees the Spanish market as having “huge potential to transform online payment management”, and explained, “I am convinced that our solutions will bring significant value to Spanish companies, optimising their processes and improving the customer experience”.
