Goodman promotes new phase at Barcelona City Hub

The property developer plans to develop 144,000 square metres of logistics and industrial space.

Barcelona City Hub, the industrial park created by property developer Goodman on the former Nissan site in the Catalan capital’s Zona Franca, has entered a new phase according to the Australian company, which plans to develop a new industrial logistics project that will complete the use of this huge plot of land.

After four years of work in which it has pursued the goal of regenerating what it describes as "one of the most emblematic industrial spaces in Spain", Goodman has succeeded in creating "a flexible, future-proof hub that integrates advanced manufacturing and logistics".

Goodman was awarded the management of these 419,000 square metres of land in 2023. A year later, the opening of Ebro Factory, the car factory created by the joint venture between Ebro and the Chinese company Chery, was one of the main milestones in this still brief history. The complex is located only ten kilometres from the city centre, 12.6 kilometres from the airport and only 500 metres from the port.

Sustainable reindustrialisation
The company now plans to launch its project to develop 144,000 square metres of logistics and industrial space to consolidate Barcelona City Hub as a European benchmark in sustainable reindustrialisation, committed to innovation, local industry and urban regeneration.

The new logistics building will have an operational area of 129,200 square metres, plus 6,457 square metres of office space. It will have a total of 118 loading bays, 25 parking spaces for trucks and 514 for cars, 110 of which will be equipped with EV chargers. It will meet demanding sustainability requirements, with solar panels for self-consumption of energy, LED lighting, use of natural light, responsible use of water and measures for its integration into the surrounding landscape, among other measures.

According to press reports, Goodman will invest 100 million euros in this development, in addition to the 23 million euros invested in the first phase. This initiative will also contribute to the creation of 3,000 jobs.
