Hilton to open first Spanish Waldorf Astoria in Marbella in 2029
The US company's most exclusive brand signs development agreement with Higuerón Developments.
The Hilton hotel company has announced the arrival in Spain of the first hotel under its Waldorf Astoria brand, the most exclusive in its portfolio. The establishment, which will be developed in partnership with Higuerón Developments, will open its doors in Marbella (Málaga) in 2029, with 120 rooms and suites and 120 residences.
The new resort, overlooking the Mediterranean coast, aims to combine a contemporary expression of the Andalusian environment with the Waldorf Astoria's design and service philosophy, including the option of personal concierge service for its guests. Three Pritzker Prize-winning architects will be responsible for the hotel's design.
A 750-square-metre spa
The dining experience is also part of the services that have made the brand world-renowned. The Marbella hotel will include the well-known Peacock Alley, a lobby bar, a signature restaurant and a pool bar and grill. It will be the 750-square-metre spa that will give the hotel a more distinctive touch. It will have four treatment rooms, a gym, and indoor and outdoor pools with large terraces.
The private residences will offer maximum privacy and access to bespoke services and amenities. Both residents and hotel guests will also have access to a golf course designed by golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr in 1994, which will be redesigned and refurbished by Robert Trent Jones Jr without losing its essence and adding a contemporary and sustainable vision.
The world's most coveted destinations
Hilton President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Nassetta, who describes Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts as ‘synonymous with unrivalled luxury in the world's most coveted destinations,’ said, ‘We are delighted to be working with Higuerón Developments again to introduce the brand to Marbella, bringing the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand to the province of Málaga. This signing represents another important step in our strategy to expand Hilton's luxury portfolio globally, which now includes more than 550 hotels, from the legendary Waldorf Astoria New York to the Conrad Hamburg and the Waldorf Astoria Osaka. ’
Higuerón Developments CEO Javier Rodríguez says the new establishment ‘aims to be a global benchmark in the ultra-luxury holiday segment,’ adding, ‘The arrival of this Waldorf Astoria resort in Spain reinforces and validates this commitment to excellence and consolidates Marbella as a privileged destination for ultra-luxury tourism.’
