Nissan opens reconditioning centre at Avila plant

The new activity adds to the production of spare parts and components and opens the door to new business opportunities.
Nissan has set up a vehicle reconditioning centre at its Avila plant, one of two in Spain for producing parts and components. This new facility will be responsible for overhauling used vehicles through a highly specialised process including over 100 checkpoints in order to meet the Japanese brand’s quality standards. Its aim is to offer buyers of these used vehicles the same experience as if they were buying a new one.
Vehicles arriving at the centre undergo a complete mechanical, bodywork and paintwork overhaul to ensure their reliability and safety. In its current initial phase, the facility will overhaul vehicles aged between six months and two years old which are marketed exclusively through the official Nissan dealer network. However, its high capacity will allow the brand to develop this activity for other customers in the future.
900 vehicles in the first year
Although the inauguration took place this summer, production at the new refurbishment centre started last January, once the facilities had been prepared for this activity. It has serviced over 300 vehicles in its first six months of operation, and is expected to reach 900 by the end of this year.
This initiative highlights the strategic role of Nissan’s Avila plant, as well as its versatility. Along with diversifying the factory’s activities – which include producing spare parts and components for Nissan and Renault – it makes better use of facilities and human resources, while also opening the door to new business opportunities.
Highly efficient process
Nissan’s General Manager of Industrial Operations in Spain, Javier Vila, explained, “Thanks to our expertise in industrial processes and state-of-the-art facilities, we are converging towards a highly efficient process that allows us to offer reconditioned vehicles of the highest quality at a competitive cost, ready for market”.
Nuria Cristóbal, Plant Manager at Nissan’s Ávila facility, noted that the centre has “extensive experience in manufacturing and in high-quality industrial processes. This centre not only strengthens Nissan’s presence in the used vehicle market, but also allows us to add value to the Nissan dealer network offering.”
Nissan’s CEO in Spain, Christian Costaganna, described the project as “a clear example of how to leverage Nissan’s extensive presence in Spain, with years of experience in the commercial and industrial area, in order to offer our customers a high quality service with the standards of the brand, and at a competitive cost”.
