Scopely opens Barcelona video game, technology and creativity hub

Located in district 22@, it has 8,500 square metres where more than 700 people will work.
US company Scopely has officially opened its new video game development, technology and creativity centre in Barcelona. Designed to drive innovation, the hub marks a significant milestone for the firm's growth worldwide, while reaffirming its commitment to Spain.
The new centre is located in district 22@, where it occupies 8,500 square metres spread over two historic modernist buildings, and where more than 700 people will work. The company is currently in the process of recruiting new professionals to join the office in the areas of development, publishing, live operations and creative.
More than 1000 employees
New hires will reinforce Scopely's workforce, which is already the largest video games company in Spain in terms of the number of employees, with more than 1000 workers across its offices in Barcelona and Seville, in addition to remote teams throughout the country.
Designed by BCA Architects, the complex integrates smart offices where employee well-being has been prioritised at all levels, with spacious open areas, roof gardens, natural light and healthy ventilation. It has charging stations for electric vehicles, bike lanes and aspires to obtain the best sustainable building certifications, such as LEED and BREEAM.
The future of gaming
The new hub intends to be a launch pad for the future of gaming. Barcelona is home to productions such as Monopoly Go, Stumble Guys, Scrabble Go, Yahtzee With Buddies and Star Trek Fleet Command, which have helped Scopely reach almost half a billion players worldwide by 2024.
It is also home to the global headquarters of Playgami, the technology platform that powers Scopely's games, and which employs more than 150 people. The in-house creative marketing lab, Flamed, which was launched in 2018 with a team of over 100 people, is also based in this city.
Long-term commitment
Scopely co-CEO Javier Ferreira explained, "The opening of this new centre reinforces our long-term commitment to Barcelona as Scopely's leading centre for video game creation, technology and creativity in Europe. Since 2017, we have believed deeply in Spain's extraordinary talent and that belief is directly reflected in the video games that entertain millions of people around the world every day”.
Hugo Pibernat, Playgami's Chief Technology Officer and head of Scopely's Barcelona headquarters, said, "Barcelona has established itself as a hub for creating and attracting talent. Every day, we develop technology, creativity and games that are enjoyed around the world. Barcelona is undoubtedly one of Europe's leading gaming centres, and we are delighted to help shape its future".
