Stockmeier strengthens presence in Spanish chemicals market

The German company acquires a majority stake in Intercoat Specialties.
The German chemical company Stockmeier is strengthening its presence in the Spanish market. To do this, it has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in the Spanish company Intercoat Specialties.
This strategic move will allow Stockmeier to expand its portfolio of speciality chemicals to strengthen its market position. Since it was founded in 1997 in Molins de Rei (Barcelona), Intercoat has mainly focused its activity on the coatings, printing inks and construction industries.
This transaction will at the same time strengthen Stockmeier's presence in Europe, especially in the coatings market segment. The innovative portfolio of UV (electronic ultraviolet light) curing resins and additives developed by the Spanish company is an important addition to its product portfolio. The German company now expects to provide value-added services to make it even more attractive to its customers.
Opportunity for growth and synergy
Stockmeier Holding’s owner and CEO, Peter Stockmeier, explained, “We are convinced that this acquisition will enable us to further expand our international activities in our speciality chemicals business. This is an important growth and synergy opportunity for us, as Intercoat brings a wealth of knowledge, technical expertise and strategically important partners.”
Intercoat founder Josep Abelló did in turn point out, “We are a team that is committed to customer service, providing competitive technical solutions, and always dedicated to upholding our principles of honesty and integrity,” and added, “We are delighted to continue the trajectory of our company as part of the Stockmeier Group. This has been fundamental for our business.”
Great opportunity for growth
Finally, Josep Camargo, co-owner of Intercoat, stated, “We are confident that together we can improve and expand solutions for our customers, while at the same time providing a great growth opportunity for our suppliers by leveraging the entire Stockmeier network across Europe”.
Stockmeier's last acquisition in Spain was New Química, located in Casarrubios del Monte (Toledo), which specialises in storing, selling and distributing chemical products. Its portfolio of organic and inorganic products, surfactants, resins and other speciality chemicals caters to a wide range of industrial sectors, notably detergents, water treatment and polyester resins. Its incorporation added a plant in Toledo to the company's existing plants in Barcelona and Valencia.
