Essentials spurs Spanish growth with technology logistics investments
Prologis’s Solutions division has invested 8 million euros to meet its customers’ needs.
Prologis’ solutions division Essentials has carried out 65 projects in Spain in 2025, in which it has invested a total of 8 million euros. The US company has highlighted the upward trend in the number of projects for sectors such as the pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as those linked to battery storage for the electric vehicle industry.
The growth of these sectors goes hand in hand with increased demand for logistics warehouses equipped with advanced technical solutions; in the case of the pharmaceutical and food sectors, these are mainly related to HVAC systems, temperature control and energy efficiency. This trend has helped drive Essentials’ business, which has grown by 40% this year.
Management of highly sensitive products
As regards the storage of batteries for the electric vehicle industry, this type of activity requires high-risk facilities, with specific compartmentalisation and advanced safety measures for the handling of highly sensitive products. Essentials’ solutions are not only designed to protect the integrity of the warehouse and operational continuity, but also to ensure the utmost safety of the employees who work in this environment.
In terms of sustainability, the company aims to end the year with Prologis’s entire portfolio in Spain converted to LED lighting. This significant improvement in the energy efficiency of its warehouses is in addition to the installation of electric vehicle chargers, which is increasingly demanded by customers with fleets and private cars.
Challenges in the logistics sector
Essentials, which also provides services to customers not linked to Prologis, highlights the electricity grid’s capacity as one of the sector’s challenges, particularly focusing on air-conditioning installations, the installation of industrial refrigeration and automation. Its proposals do as a result include systems that combine solar energy with battery storage.
Other highly sought-after solutions are those aimed at improving working conditions in warehouses, such as optimised lighting, comfortable climate control and ergonomic improvements. Company manager Francisco Vázquez said that “in recent years, we have worked with over a hundred clients in Spain, 40 of them in 2025, and with a particularly strong presence in the pharmaceutical, 3PL and food sectors. At Essentials, we offer smart infrastructure that combines space, technology and energy, beyond the traditional logistics asset itself.”
