ICEX-Invest in Spain | Multinationals by Spain | IESE's International Center for Competitiveness (ICC)
The Barometer collects the opinion of foreign investors, obtained in an annual survey, on the business climate in Spain, carried out in the last months of 2025. (February 2026)
The "Barometer of the Business Climate in Spain from the Perspective of the Foreign Investor" is now in its eighteenth edition and has already become a baseline publication in Spain, developed by ICEX-Invest in Spain, Multinacionales con España and the ICC (IESE). This edition includes the assessment and importance given by more than 750 foreign-owned companies to the business climate in Spain during the 2025 financial year. It also includes year-end forecasts and those for 2026 regarding investment, staffing, turnover, and exports. This makes it possible to identify, with a medium-term perspective, the main strengths of the environment that need to be maintained, as well as the main areas of action where efforts need to be focused. Despite international uncertainties, the outlook for 2026 is significantly better; in fact, 90% of the participating companies state they plan to increase or maintain their workforce. This edition also features a dedicated chapter on the impact of geopolitical conflicts, a section on sustainability strategies, and a new analysis of the impact of US tariff policy on business results. The main areas of study assessed in the Barometer refer to the characteristics and conditions of Spain in relation to its labor market, taxation, regulatory environment, infrastructure, costs, financing, human capital, innovation, market size and quality of life.
