Vestas is a Danish-based company and the largest supplier of Wind energy in the world with more than 40,000 aerogenerators installed in 65 countries on five continents. Its main line of business is the development, manufacture, sale and maintenance of wind technology for the generation of electricity. Vestas employs around 20,700 people worldwide.

The headquarters of Vestas for the Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean zone and Latin America are located in Spain, as are factories manufacturing control systems, blades and maintenance centers distributed around Spain.

The company had installed more than 2,600 aerogenerators in Spain, which have a combined capacity of around 3409.06 MW and make the company the second largest manufacturer in Spain.

The Wind Energy sector is a hugely important part of the Spanish Energy Mix, accounting for 14.3 % of energy demand. It has therefore become the third most important generation technology only behind combined cycle gas power plants and nuclear power stations.

Spain is one of the most important countries in the world. The growing quantity of parks being built and already up and running have turned Spain into one of the most important test beds in this field worldwide.
