PSA invests over 100 million euros in its Vigo center

It is working in partnership with the CTAG on the Factory 4.0 automation project which was launched in 2016 and will continue until 2021

The PSA Group has achieved over 100 million euros in investment (of the 145 planned) in its Vigo center for actions related to the Factory 4.0 project, an initiative which also includes the Automotive Technology Center of Galicia (CTAG).

This figure was announced by the project managers after the annual balancing of the industrial research and experimental development activities currently underway, and those already completed.

The project was launched in 2016 and has three main objectives: to respond to the challenges of Industry 4.0 with a R+D+i that is focused on designing processes for the factory of the future (virtual, agile, connected and environmentally friendly); to design and develop products and systems for the vehicle of the future (driverless, connected, clean, attractive and affordable); and to validate these new processes and products.

The Factory 4.0 automation project has a duration of 62 months and will represent over 2.2 million hours of advanced engineering and innovation. This will mobilize knowledge to enhance the competences of the industry, which can be transferred to other productive sectors. Thanks to this springboard for improvements in competitiveness, during the period the project is active (2016-2021), it is calculated that the automobile sector in Galicia will increase its business volume by over 2 billion euros and generate over 4,000 new jobs.
