Globalinvex, new way of visualising foreign investment

The Secretary of State for Trade has recently launched Globalinvex, an analysis and visualisation tool for data on direct foreign investment (DFI) to complement Datainvex, which has traditionally offered consultation on these data

The main new feature offered by Globalinvex is that it allows access to statistics on Spanish inward and outward investment in a much more intuitive, streamlined and simpler way. It is an ideal tool for journalists, professionals, students, researchers and any other interested party, to be able to consult figures related to foreign direct investment in Spain in a format that is analytically suitable and visually attractive in equal measure.

Globalinvex offers the possibility of visualising the available data through a wide range of graphs and tables. Graphic display plays a key role in data compression at all stages of analysis.

It is also possible to check the temporary evolution of foreign direct investment flows since 1993, broken down into area of activity, and to geographically disaggregate the data by country of origin or source, distinguishing, in the latter case, the immediate country of origin of the investment and the nationality of the last investor. Distribution of foreign investment can also be consulted by autonomous region.

Globalinvex offers the possibility of analysing the current situation of foreign direct investment in Spain, by consulting the statistics on inward and outward FDI stocks , also disaggregated by sector, geography (by country) and territory (by autonomous region).

This tool uses web technology, through the most common browsers, and works on the main operating systems and current platforms (desktops, tablets, mobile devices, etc.).

Data collected come from the mandatory statements made by all foreign companies that have made investments in Spain, although for information purposes only, as well as from all Spanish companies investing overseas. They are therefore data with a high degree of accuracy, as they are not derived from estimations or surveys, but from the aggregation of all foreign investment transactions actually carried out in Spain. Spain is one of the only countries in the world that has a statistical database for foreign investments with this level of reliability.
