Deutsche Telekom opens T-Systems technology hub in Valencia

This will create 400 jobs, in addition to the 800 jobs created in Spain in 2022 and another 400 planned for 2023

Deutsche Telekom continues to drive the growth in Spain of T-Systems, its digitalisation services subsidiary for business and public administration. The company, with a presence in more than 20 countries, has opened a new Deutsche Telekom IT value centre in Valencia, where it will employ around 400 technology experts.

This new hub, which aims to meet Deutsche Telekom's technology needs in Germany, has already recruited its first 300 engineers. This is Deutsche Telekom IT's third value centre in Spain, following the ones in Granada and Reus (Tarragona). In addition to the national network, it will also be integrated into the international network, with offices in Germany, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic and India.

Global benchmark
The Valencian hub aspires to become a world benchmark centre thanks to its combination of international and local talent, in addition to other factors. This office will host around 10% of the 500 new jobs that T-Systems plans to create in Spain by December. The main profiles to be included will be developers, DevOps engineers, scrum masters and experts in data analysis and test automation.

The new hub will not slow down the growth of the other facilities. In fact, the Granada-based company quintupled the size of its team up to 2022 and still plans to create another 1,000 jobs by 2025. This centre has also created the Chair for Innovation in Digital Sustainability, in collaboration with the University of Granada. The Reus-based company hired 300 professionals in 2022 to drive cloud adoption and digitisation among T-Systems' customers worldwide.

The company’s other offices that do not belong to this network of services for the parent company are also continuing to grow in the meantime, such as the one in Barcelona, which has just opened a new location to accommodate over 1,000 professionals specialised in developing AI solutions, big data, cybersecurity, cloud services and technology infrastructure.

Promoting innovation
T-Systems Iberia CEO Osmar Polo said, “The opening of this new digital hub for Deutsche Telekom IT in Valencia is very good news for us, and follows the line of growth that we have been seeing in recent years, creating jobs, generating synergies with Spanish universities and promoting innovation to offer solutions to new social and business challenges through technology”.

Deutsche Telekom's CIO and CEO of Telekom IT, Peter Leukert, explained, “As Spain's digital, scientific and cultural centre, Valencia is a perfect fit for the group's new technology hub. With a significant number of universities and a diverse international community, Valencia is a promising location, and we look forward to establishing fruitful collaborations with local experts and young professionals.”
