Toyota Material Handling starts construction of new Spanish headquarters

The new facility will house some 290 office, workshop, spare parts and after-sales service staff from 2024 onwards

Toyota Material Handling Spain has started construction of its new headquarters, which will move from Barberá del Vallés to Sabadell (Barcelona) in 2024 in response to its exponential growth over recent years. The new site will improve connections to communication hubs and the facilities have been designed to improve after-sales service and provide an innovative environment for the customer experience by showcasing its machinery and automation systems.

The company is also committed to achieving zero emissions when carrying out its activities. The building, which will be rented and owned by the developer ICC, will span  16,500 square metres and be built on a plot of 37,247 square metres. The demonstration area will exceed 1,000 square metres, and the spare parts area will triple in size to 2,100 square metres.

Latest technologies
With this distribution facility, which will include a customer car park, the company aims to make a qualitative leap in its specialist area, selling and renting machinery and logistics solutions for industrial use, value-added solutions and innovation. The latest technologies and sustainable systems have been used to design and construct the warehouse in order to reduce costs and improve efficiency for both internal and external transport, as well as improving flows in the workshop and the spare parts area.

With the aim of reducing the facility’s carbon footprint, the warehouse will be equipped with state-of-the-art systems for waste management and energy efficiency. Solar panels and LED lights are two examples of the facilities the building will be equipped with and the company is aiming for the new building to be awarded LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

Around 290 people will work at the future headquarters of Toyota Material Handling in Spain. In addition to distributing, marketing and providing after-sales service for industrial machinery, the facility will also offer other alternatives, such as rentals, second-hand equipment, financial services, Lean projects, automated solutions, energy and sustainability.

Managing Director of Toyota Material Handling Spain, Joan Catalán, said, “Thanks to the work carried out by all the teams across the entire company, we needed to increase the facilities for our headquarters in Spain, and this new space will meet this need.
