Football gains ground at Decathlon Spain with new thematic stores

The company has opened 18 Pro Shops for which it has trained 90 salespeople in the sport.
Sports brand Decathlon has taken an important step in its new commitment to specialised spaces integrated into its stores. The company has launched 18 Pro Shops specialising in football in stores throughout Spain. This means it now exceeds 4,000 square meters dedicated exclusively to this sport, one of the most widely played.
The specialisation strategy includes a selection of specialised products and services with which Decathlon aims to position itself as one of the brands with the widest range on the market. It will sell the official footballs for all competitions and jerseys of the major European clubs, as well as other products.
Strategically selected shops
90 of the company’s sales staff have received qualified technical training in football in order to be able to advise customers on a personalised basis. The stores in which these spaces have been opened have been strategically selected in the areas where the sport is most widely played and where there are the greatest number of licensed players. These include Alcobendas, Alcorcón, Majadahonda, Rivas and San Sebastián de los Reyes in the province of Madrid, L’Illa and Ramblas in Barcelona, Campanar in Valencia, Guadalmar in Málaga, Granada and Tenerife.
As Sergio San Felipe, Sales Manager for Football at Decathlon Spain, explained, in addition to offering an extensive range of technical products, “we create a space where passion for football is the protagonist. Our customers can dive into an immersive environment, interact with the latest developments and receive expert, personalised advice. This way, every visit becomes an opportunity to experience football from a new angle, feeling the intensity and the atmosphere on the pitch before going out on the field.
Presentation events
During the month of September, special events will be held to present the new stores. The specific dates are San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) on the 13th, Parc del Forum (Barcelona) on the 18th and 19th, Sant Boi (Barcelona) on the 20th and in Rivas-Vaciamadrid (Madrid) on the 27th.
The Madrid events will include training workshops, product testing and an immersive virtual reality session. In Barcelona, there will be recreational activities, prizes and talks, including one with international player Pedri.
