Dekra boosts innovation in Spain with new cybersecurity Malaga laboratory
It will enable the certification of digital products and semiconductors for customers worldwide.
Industrial testing, certification and inspection services company Dekra has once again chosen Malaga as the location for a new cybersecurity testing and certification laboratory for digital products and semiconductors. From this centre, the German firm will serve customers worldwide to consolidate its role in advancing digital trust and expand its capacity to meet the growing global demand for security in a connected world.
The new laboratory offers comprehensive assessment and certification services in the field of digital trust. Its activity covers the entire product value chain, from testing and evaluation of systems on chip (SoC) and embedded systems to the analysis of connected products, AI solutions and certification services.
European and international standards and regulations
Using an integrated approach, the aim of this Dekra centre is to help its customers comply with European and international standards and regulations, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). Among the main services offered by the cybersecurity laboratory is compliance with international standards such as Common Criteria and FIPS 140-3, which focus on security and cryptographic evaluation.
Another of the new laboratory's outstanding services is the development of Spanish evaluation schemes, such as Lince and CPSTIC, within the framework of the National Cryptologic Centre (CCN). It also offers sector-specific services, covering standards such as Sesip, a benchmark for the evaluation of Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, and PSA, which validates the security of hardware and software platforms.
Decades of experience in cybersecurity
Behind this new service offering, Dekra is backed by decades of experience in cybersecurity in the automotive, healthcare, industrial, Internet of Things (IoT), information and communication technology (ICT) and SoC sectors. The new facilities will enable it to strengthen its digital trust services (DTS) and improve its ability to help manufacturers and technology providers around the world develop reliable and compliant connected products in the digital age.
As Dekra Chief Operating Officer Peter Laursen pointed out, “ensuring security and digital trust at every stage of a semiconductor product's life cycle is crucial, as vulnerabilities can arise at any time during production, supply or use”. Now, he added, with the opening of the new laboratory, the company “is driving innovation for its customers while maintaining digital trust, as it is not just about protecting a product, but contributing to the protection of the entire ecosystem of the digitalised world in which we live.”
