Foodiz makes Spain leap to start international expansion
The foodtech company is starting up a fresh produce production plant in Madrid.
Food group Foodiz Solutions is opening a subsidiary in Spain, the first outside France, and with which it will start its international expansion. With its own production centre in Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid), the company offers a complete commercialisation model, ranging from the preparation of fresh products, such as sushi, poke bowls and Asian snacks, to direct distribution of these products to shops.
The French foodtech company’s products are sold in supermarkets under its own Freshmood brand. The company’s staff are responsible for replenishing its stocks and collecting unsold goods. Over 130 shops in Spain, under brands like Carrefour and Alcampo, already offer the company’s products on their shelves.
Third production site
The Madrid production centre is the company’s third, along with two others in France. The company has an R&D team based in each of them, and focused on creating new products for consumers. For them, arriving in the Spanish capital is just the beginning. Founded 15 years ago in the north of France, the group is no longer an SME and now has four companies in the neighbouring country in addition to its Spanish subsidiary. Its team now numbers over 600 employees on both sides of the border.
Baptiste Bayart, founder and CEO of Foodiz, sums up the company’s journey, “The path from 2B Fresh to Foodiz is 15 years of entrepreneurship, investment and passion. This international development is the result of a long-term vision and a formidable team.” He added, “After conquering the French market, this international expansion reflects our ambition: to become a leader in ultra-fresh food solutions, with flavours from around the world, accessible to all”.
Brand evolution
2B Fresh was the first seed for what is now Foodiz. The company’s aim was to reintroduce ultra-fresh sushi into local shops. Throughout its journey, it has been joining forces with other companies, with which it has been adding offerings like cookery demos and various recipes, from hot dishes to exotic flavours.
The Freshmood brand was launched in 2020, and now has a presence in over 1,300 shops in France. The Foodiz group was unified in 2023, shortly before starting the international expansion process that began with the launch of its Spanish subsidiary.
