Punto Health opens Spanish subsidiary to fight Alzheimer’s disease

Since its creation in 2023, the company has launched over 10 clinical trials, conducted between Spain and the UK.

Punto Health, a company specialising in developing technological solutions supported by artificial intelligence to improve the care of  patients with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, has opened a subsidiary in Barcelona. Founded in 2023 and having its headquarters in the United Kingdom, its relationship with Catalonia comes from its very origin, given that one of its founders and CEO of the company is the Catalan engineer Anna Muñoz-Farré. Her partner and CTO is British engineer Jack Eckersley.

Hence, all Punto Health tools have been developed from the beginning in Spanish, Catalan and English. Opening the new subsidiary consolidates an activity that has also accompanied the company throughout its history, with various studies being carried out in collaboration with bodies like the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, the Hospital del Mar, the General Hospital of Granollers and Prytanis Centros Asistenciales.

Artificial intelligence-based platform
Punto Health’s artificial intelligence-based platform offers personalised support to patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals: the PuntoCare mobile app provides daily support to people with cognitive impairment, as well as cognitive stimulation plans and healthy lifestyle tips for their families; PuntTest includes several evidence-based cognitive assessment tools for early detection and monitoring of cognitive changes; and PuntoClinic helps healthcare providers monitor patient progress and collaborate with families.

The company’s tests consist of a speech-based digital biomarker, remote monitoring with large-scale screening and a model trained using clinical data and a selection of controls. To support healthcare staff, it offers cognitive health monitoring tools, remote screening capabilities and support in selecting patients for clinical trials and new treatments.

Cognitive, continuous and personalised care
“This is just the beginning,” the company says, “From here, we are committed to strengthening our presence throughout Spain, providing continuous and personalised cognitive care to more patients, caregivers and doctors.”

Punto Health’s multidisciplinary team enables it to deal with all aspects of its activity, from technological development to medical care, and without forgetting its commercial approach.

To date, the British company has conducted over 1,500 cognitive tests, completed more than 10,000 exercises and launched over 10 pilot programmes in Spain and the UK.
