Siemens chooses Spain to open new technology hub

Located in Madrid and with a satellite team in Aragon, it will create 30 jobs over the next three years.
Siemens will launch a new technology hub for data centres in Spain to consolidate its commitment to the development of sustainable, resilient and competitive digital infrastructure. This initiative highlights Spain's role as a digital gateway to southern Europe, as well as Siemens AG's commitment to the potential of our country as a hub for the expansion of this infrastructure, which is key to the development of technologies such as AI, IoT, 5G and cloud computing.
The new hub, which will contribute to boosting the digital development of our country, will be located in the Madrid town of Tres Cantos and will have a satellite team in Aragon. It will play a role as an innovation centre for the industry and will create around 30 jobs over the next three years, initially serving Spain and Portugal. Internationally, it will operate in collaboration with Siemens' centres of competence for data centres in The Hague (The Netherlands), North Carolina (USA) and Chennai (India).
Sustainability requirements
Siemens Spain CEO Fernando Silva believes that this initiative "underlines the importance of the data centre market for Siemens, both globally and specifically for Iberia. With this new infrastructure, we will multiply our network of technical experts to support our customers in their requirements for sustainability, efficiency and operational reliability for their data centres."
Sustainability is one of the main concerns for this type of infrastructure, which, according to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), consumed 415 terawatt-hours of electrical energy worldwide in 2024, with a forecast to reach 945 terawatt-hours by 2030. The Siemens hub will seek to provide innovative solutions to support efficient operation and reduced resource consumption.
Global head of data centre solutions at Siemens Smart Infrastructure Ciaran Flanagan says the exponential growth of data "poses new challenges and we are committed to helping our customers optimise their operations, deliver their projects efficiently and minimise costs while meeting their sustainability and availability goals. The opening of this hub in Madrid is a key milestone on that road."
