Spain priority market for Tandem Health growth

The company has just raised 43 million euros that will enable it to expand its AI-powered medical assistant.

Healthtech company Tandem Health, creator of an artificial intelligence medical assistant, has closed a series A funding round raising 43 million euros. This capital injection will help it advance its goal of streamlining and optimising clinical work through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This will also allow the company to accelerate its expansion in several European markets, with Spain as a priority.

In this new growth phase, Tandem plans to reinforce its sales and customer service teams, in addition to deepening product development. Its medical assistant is already in use in over a thousand healthcare organisations across Europe, with growing adoption in both the public and private sectors.

Easing the burden on health professionals
Tandem Health’s Managing Director in Spain, Jorge Pérez Hermilla, says Spain is “a priority for us, especially because of the urgent need we see for solutions that help ease the burden on healthcare professionals. This round gives us the impetus to accelerate our growth, strengthen our local team and continue to raise the standards of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.”

Up to this stage, according to the Swedish company’s CEO and Co-Founder Lukas Saari, “we have only begun to re-imagine how healthcare will be delivered and how clinical workflows will be designed in the LLM (large language models) era”. Now, he adds, “we want to be the trusted partner of healthcare providers who want to equip their professionals with the best AI in their practices and help them on this transformation journey. To do this, we are taking on the complexity of the European healthcare system, setting up local operations in five markets, and providing the best tools our healthcare workers deserve.”

Improving the quality of care
The new funding will be used to accelerate the development of new features at Tandem. The current medical assistant for transcription of AI consultations will move towards an operational system that will support practitioners at every stage of clinical work, from coding and care coordination to clinical decision support tools. In this way, it will contribute to reducing the burden on professionals’ daily workload, and help them to focus their attention on patients, thus improving the quality of care.

In addition to Spain, Tandem plans to expand its team in markets like France and Germany. The capital raised will strengthen its capacity to provide quality solutions to clinicians.
