TotalEnergies inaugurates largest European solar project in Spain

Located in Seville, it has an installed capacity of 263 MW and will produce 515 GWh per year.
Renewable energy producer TotalEnergies has launched its largest solar project in Europe in the province of Seville. The cluster consists of five solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 263 MW, which will produce up to 515 GWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of over 150,000 Spanish households.
The project has been declared one of strategic interest by the regional government of Andalusia. It consists of 400,000 bifacial solar panels with trackers, and 14 companies, more than half of them from Seville, have participated in installing them. 800direct and indirect jobs were generated during the construction phase. For the operational phase, the French company has signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for most of the electricity to be produced, with the remainder to be traded on the wholesale market.
A competitive integrated energy portfolio
TotalEnergies’ Senior Vice President of Renewables, Olivier Jouny, thanked the Spanish authorities, both at regional and national level, “for lending their support to this solar project, which is contributing to Spain’s goal of reaching 80% renewables in its energy mix by 2030”.
Jouny explained, “With our 1,700 employees in Spain, we are building a competitive integrated energy portfolio that combines renewables and flexible gas-fired power plants to deliver clean, stable energy to our customers. We are proud to be the fourth largest supplier of electricity, gas and associated services in Spain, where we have over 2 million residential and professional customers.”
Targets for 2030
TotalEnergies has a portfolio of assets that combines renewables with combined cycle gas turbine power plants and storage. At the end of March 2025 it had 28 GW of installed gross renewable electricity generation capacity. This figure is expected to grow to 35 GW by the end of this year, with the aim of reaching a net production of over 100 terawatt-hours of electricity by 2030.
The French company also markets oil, biofuels, natural gas, biogas and low-carbon hydrogen. It has a presence in around 120 countries, with a workforce of over 100,000 employees.
